BRUSSELS, Belgium: EU regulators on Thursday cleared German mail and package delivery firm Deutsche Post to buy British-based Exel PLC for euro5.5 billion ($6.48 billion), making it the world’s largest global delivery firm.

Hyundai Group is strengthening management control of Hyundai Asan and other subsidiaries through cross-shareholdings among units.

The Ministry of Defence still faces big overspends, despite starting to bring procurement programmes under control, the National Audit Office has revealed.
It said it was unclear whether a fall in cost overruns last year marked the start of a sustained improvement in the MoD’s project management.

The London Fire and Emergency Planning Authority has installed SSA’s Financial Management software in an upgrade aimed at improving its procurement and purchasing.
The authority, which covers 112 London fire stations, spends approximately £55m a year through its e-procurement system, generating around 80,000 requisitions and placing 45,000 orders with suppliers.
