Minister visits China to seek logistics cooperation in Northeast Asia
Maritime Affairs-Fisheries Minister Oh Keo-don visited China on Oct. 26-27 to seek tripartite cooperation among Korea, China and Japan in the international logistics field.
Meeting with Li Changjiang, chief of the general administration of quality supervision, inspection and quarantine of China, Oh suggested that each country designate an organization and experts and connect a hotline among them to promptly cope with various issues.
After the meeting, Oh attended the Korea-China forum on international logistics jointly hosted by the Korea Economic Daily and China Economic Daily.
Minister Oh also met with Chinese Minister of Transportation Zhang Chunxian on Oct. 7 and suggested to form a Korea-China-Japan ministers’ meeting as a way to expand cooperation in the logistics sector among countries in Northeast Asia.
Oh called upon China to give full support to South Korea’s efforts to host the general meetings of the International Association of Ports and Harbors (IAPH) in Busan in 2011 and become a council member of the International Maritime Organization.
